Consumer Barometer
The Consumer Barometer is a quarterly report that provides a topline overview of the U.S. optical industry. As part of the larger VisionWatch consumer research project, the Consumer Barometer provides users with topline optical data regarding most of the major components of the eyewear and eye care industry. In each quarterly report you will find a concise summary that provides information on:
- Eyewear usage patterns by consumer demographic (age and gender)
- Rx eyeglasses
- OTC readers
- Contact lenses
- Plano sunglasses
- Clip-Ons
- Computer Eyeglasses
- Market segment dollar sales performance by distribution channel (independents, conventional chains, mass merchandisers, etc...)
- Lenses
- Frames
- Plano Sunglasses
- OTC Readers

- Eye exam data
- LASIK and refractive surgery procedures
- Future intent / forecasting data
- Rx eyeglasses
- Rx eyewear
- Eye exams

In each edition of the report data is provided for the most recent 12 month ending period with comparisons to the previous two years.

Fees
Members of The Vision Council receive the Consumer Barometer for free each quarter as a benefit of membership. Nonmembers may purchase an annual subscription to the program for $999 and receive four reports each year.
